As we gather tonight, our attention turns to the immeasurable love of God revealed in Jesus Christ, who completes what we could never achieve on our own.
We recount our attempts at spiritual discipline, acknowledging how our hearts faltered and efforts waned. Yet, in all our frailty, we find solace in the unwavering love and sacrifice of Jesus. Through His suffering and resolute devotion, He demonstrates the perfect obedience and love that fulfils every lack we possess. On the cross, Jesus' final proclamation, "It is finished," becomes our assurance of redemption, silencing doubts and fears of ever measuring up.
Tonight, we embrace the "blessed exchange" where Christ takes on our sins and imparts His righteousness to us. He bears our shortcomings and gifts us completeness, inviting us to rest in His finished work. As we stand before the cross, we lay down our worries and embrace His divine love, trusting that our spiritual disciplines are enriched by His ultimate sacrifice. Let us celebrate the victory of the Lamb of God, who brings us liberation and peace, today and always.
